2026 Chevrolet Traverse

The 2024-present Chevrolet Traverse is the third generation of the large crossover and replaces the V6 with a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder paired with an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel drive optional. The exterior adopts a squarer, more truck-like appearance than its predecessor, and a Z71 trim adds an off-road-oriented suspension, all-terrain tires, and a twin-clutch rear drive unit.

Despite the smaller engine, output and torque are comparable to the V6 it replaces, and the turbocharged unit delivers its torque lower in the rev range, which suits a heavy three-row vehicle. Interior technology took a large step forward with a wide standard display. Cargo capacity and third-row space, long the model's strengths, carry over.

As a used buy, this generation is new enough that most examples remain under factory warranty and long-term reliability data does not yet exist. The move from a naturally aspirated V6 to a turbocharged four-cylinder is the main consideration for buyers weighing this against the previous generation, trading a very well-proven engine for a newer design. The Z71 trim is the notable addition for buyers who want light off-road capability in a large family crossover.
